Stay at home or Working Mums

Post  garrethsmummy on Sat Mar 01, 2008 5:57 pm

Which are you? And why?

I'm a stay at home Mum at the moment, purely because I thought it was better to stay at home with Garreth, and give him all the love and support I could (not that working Mum's don't) but I wanted to be with him for everything and I didn't want to miss any of his firsts.

Now though I'm training to be a Teaching Assistant, and hoping to go back to work in September. Very Happy

I stay at home with my brood.

At the moment, it's not beneficial for me to go out to work, I would end up paying more in Childcare than I would earn, so for us it's more the financial side. I don't see me going back to work for at least 5 years, because I want to wait until my youngest is in school full-time.

I think it's just about the same for me.

The biggest issue is, is there isn't enough support for working Mum's. I've looked at certain aspects of it, and I was told that I would end up 30 a week worse off, and I really don't understand how.
